Tibbo Device Server Toolkit (TDST) is supplied free with our DS100 and EM100 devices. TDST includes the following components:
Virtual Serial Port Driver (VSPD) and Manager
The VSPD (a.k.a. "COM redirector") network-enables your existing "serial" PC software by creating Virtual Serial Ports (VSPs). To any Windows application the VSP works and feels just like a regular COM port. In reality, the VSP is transparently rerouting the data to the DS100 (EM100) and your serial device "behind" it. This way you can continue using your PC software without any modifications.Tibbo Technology has developed its own advanced COM redirector and is not relying on any third-party solution. In doing this we have achieved very tight integration between the driver, management software, and our DS100 and EM100 Device Servers. The VSPD from Tibbo Technology has the following features:
- Many virtual ports may be created on the same PC (limited only by the capabilities of the operating system: 16 for Win98 and WinME, virtually unlimited for WinNT, Win2000, and WinXP). Existing "real" COM ports (COM1, COM2, …) can also be substituted
- Choice of UDP/IP or TCP/IP communications protocols
- Ability to send on-the-fly commands that remotely change parameters of the DS100's (EM100's) serial port. This way, when your application on the PC opens the Virtual Port at 19200bps the serial port of the DS100 (EM100) will be set to 19200bps too!
- Supports innovative Multi-IP feature that allows an application to address multiple DS100s (EM100s) through a single Virtual port. Read more…

Setting up the network equipment can be tricky so we have created the Connection Wizard. This handy program let you setup a link between the VSP and the DS100 (EM100) or between two DS100s (EM100s) in several easy steps. For example, for the VSP <-> DS link the Connection Wizard will help you create the VSP and setup both the VSP and the DS100 (EM100) so that they can correctly communicate with each other. The whole process takes less than 30 seconds and dramatically simplifies the deployment of our Devices.
Port Monitor logs the activity of Virtual Serial Ports on your system. Events such as "Port opened", "Port closed", "Established connection with 192.168.100.91" are recorded and can be reviewed if troubleshooting becomes necessary. The Monitor can also log the data passing through a particular Virtual Port.
