Tibbo makes fixed-function Device Servers and modules, but also programmable devices. This can get tricky because some devices can be either fixed-function or programmable, depending on the firmware they carry. Such dual-use devices include the DS202/203, EM202/203 and EM200.
Other devices, such as the DS1000, are strictly programmable devices.
By default, programmable devices are not visible on DS Manager. They run firmware called called TiOS (Tibbo Operating System). With TiOS, the device becomes a blank device, with no pre-set functionality. It was designed to run Tibbo BASIC applications created using our TIDE software. The intention is to allow for maximum flexibility.
The DS Manager was designed to work with our Serial-Over-IP devices (EM firmware). It was not meant to work with TiOS devices. Another tool, called Device Explorer (available stand-alone or as a part of TIDE) may be used to find the device. Note, however, that Device Explorer was not designed to work in the same way as DS Manger. For example, device settings cannot be adjusted. It was designed strictly to be able to load Tibbo BASIC applications and TiOS firmware and show what devices are on the LAN.
