Security Aspects of Server (Slave) Mode

Question: The DS100/EM100 can communicate with and will accept the data from any PC (Station) on the network. Isn't this too risky from the security point of view?

Answer: Yes, in the Slave mode of operation the DS100/EM100 will accept the data from any PC and reply to any PC. Thus, “security is low” in the Slave mode. However, in the Master mode the DS100/EM100 will only work with the PC (or any other “Station” on the network) whose IP-address and Port number are preset in the DI (Destination IP) and DP (Destination Port) Settings of the DS100/EM100. This way it is possible to make sure that the DS100/EM100 will only accept the data from and reply to a certain predefined PC (Station) on the network.
