Question: I don't see the DS on my LAN for some reason (using DS Manager). Can you tell me what is the original IP address of the DS so I could detect it?
Answer: The default IP address for Device Servers is usually a “loopback” address – 127.0.0.1. It has no meaning in a LAN – it refers to the device itself only.
Not having a valid IP address doesn't mean you won't see your device. This isn't the problem. The DS is designed to be detected also when it has an invalid IP address – it replies to broadcast requests.
Most probably, the problem has to do with firewall configuration or incorrect network connections.
You should use Serial Access Mode, as described here. Once you've accessed the settings for the DS, you can set a valid IP address for the DS.
